I was told a story about the time Russel Landrus' baboon escaped on Elston Hollow Road, sometime in the mid 1960's. As I was told, this was quite the event in town, with cars lined up and down the road as the baboon was captured.

Several people were known to be taking pictures that day, including one of the baboon wearing a painter's cap and holding a cigarette in its mouth.

If anyone has these pictures and would like to share them, please contact me at baldwinhistorian@gmail.com.
